49ers' Fred Warner reveals his favorite memory from 2018 NFL Draft

When the 49ers were on the clock with the No. 70 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, they came away with an absolute steal. Fred Warner has been worth far more than a third-round pick through his first two years in the league.

Although the draft obviously was an emotional day for Warner, it might have been just as emotional for his uncle.

"One thing I'll always remember is that one of my uncles, Uncle Chris, is a die-hard Niners fan and he was wearing his bomber Niner jacket that day," Warner told NBC Sports Bay Area. "So right when John Lynch called me on the phone to tell me I'm a Niner, my uncle gave me his bomber jacket so I could wear that when my name was announced on the TV.

Warner went to Mission Hills High School in San Marcos. It's easy to assume his uncle wasn't the only 49ers fan in the family. And now, they're all rooting for San Francisco.

"Very surreal feeling, very blessed to be with the 49ers, one of the best organizations in the league -- if not the best," Warner said.

Warner has started all 16 regular-season games the last two seasons for the 49ers, plus their three playoff games last year. In just two seasons, he has combined for 242 tackles. Warner also recorded three sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception in his second season.
