
The 49ers on Tuesday claimed cornerback C.J. Goodwin off waivers from the New York Giants and signed undrafted rookie defensive lineman Blaine Woodson of Delaware.
The 49ers waived wide receiver DeAndre Carter of Sacramento State. Carter spent last season on the 49ers’ practice squad.
Goodwin, 28, appeared in 26 games with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016 and ’17. He played two games last season with the Arizona Cardinals. He entered the NFL in 2014 as an undrafted rookie with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played wide receiver at California University (Pa.) and Fairmont State after transferring from Bethany College, where he played basketball for two seasons.

The Cardinals waived Goodwin (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) in April. He was claimed by the Giants.
Woodson (6-2, 280) participated in the recent 49ers rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. In his five-year career at Delaware, he played in 45 games with 44 starts, recorded 159 tackles, 21.5 for loss with 14.5 sacks and one interception.
