49ers CEO York does not want to talk football during season

SANTA CLARA – Embattled 49ers CEO Jed York spent several minutes with a handful of reporters as they left the 49ers’ practice field on Friday morning.

When asked whether he would address the state of the 49ers, who have lost five of six games after an opening-week victory over the Minnesota Vikings, York said it was not the time to talk about football matters.

He said he would address team issues at some point in the future. York suggested he wants coach Jim Tomsula and the football team to focus on the season, including Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams.

York has been the center of controversy since the end of last season after parting ways with coach Jim Harbaugh and overseeing the promotion of defensive line coach Jim Tomsula to the head-coaching position.

York and his wife, Danielle, became parents for the second time last week with the arrival of baby boy Brixton York last Friday -- the morning after the 49ers' 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium.
