The rich got richer this week, but being rich doesn't make you the king.
The 49ers have opened the season 6-0 -- their best start since 1990, and filled a glaring hole Tuesday when they acquired wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders from the Denver Broncos.
Now with a stout defense, efficient run game and two dynamic receiving threats for Jimmy Garoppolo to throw the ball to, the Niners should be the favorites in the NFC, right?

Not so fast says NBC's Peter King.
"This trade does not make them a favorite to play in the Super Bowl," King told 95.7 The Game's "Bruce, Ratto and Kolsky."
Sanders, a two-time Pro-Bowl selection, gives Garoppolo a No. 1 target on the outside, but King doesn't think the move will change the power structure in the NFC.
"Look, Emmanuel Sanders is an upgrade for them at receiver," King said. "But Emmanuel Sanders doesn't catapult them into the Super Bowl-favorites role. He's a nice receiver, who's 32 years old -- I don't even know what he is. It's a nice trade, it's a good addition, but it's not revolutionary.

"Do not get me wrong," King continued later. "I like this acquisition. I really do. But he's also missed eight games the last two-and-a-half years with injuries. Again, I like the deal. I'm just not convinced it's any nirvana deal for the 49ers."

While the 49ers' 6-0 start is impressive, it's hard to tell how good they are after beating six teams with a combined record of 11-28. The road will get harder for the 49ers starting Sunday in Week 8 when they welcome the 4-2 Panthers to Levi's Stadium.
Sanders should have a big role from the jump, but whether or not his addition elevates them to conference favorites is still undetermined.
