
Apparently,49ers linebacker Aldon Smith has dodged another bullet, this time just daysbefore the 49ers home opener with the Lions.MattBarrows of the Sacramento Bee first reported Smith was involved in a one-car wrecknear his home in San Joseon Friday night.The49ers second-year player was the passenger in a car when itswerved to avoid a deer and ended up on its side down an embankment at 11:45 p.m.The accident occurred in unincorporated Santa Clara County,near Smiths home.Accordingto the report, the CHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Smith wastreated at Stanford Hospital for a cut above aneye that required stitches, but the driver of the car wasnt as lucky. He was transportedto San Jose Regional Medical Center for what the CHPdescribed as a broken back.Thisis the third troubling incident for Smith this year. Smith was charged with aDUI in Miami Beachin January, and was stabbed at his home after an altercation during a party inlate June.Despitethe eye injury, Smith was effective on Sunday night against Detroit. He played every snap and wascredited with seven tackles, one sack, a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit inthe 49ers 27-19 win.
