Klay Thompson is officially an All-Star, but the Warriors guard will not play Thursday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Golden State announced that Thompson is out with an illness. Alfonzo McKinnie will start in his place, according to multiple reports.

Earlier Thursday, Thompson was named to his fifth straight NBA All-Star team. The 28-year-old is averaging 21.7 points per game on 46.2 percent shooting (37.9 percent from 3). After a slow start to the season, Thompson is averaging 23.9 points per game since the calendar flipped to 2019, and shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 47.5 percent from the outside.
Thursday would've featured a matchup betweek Thompson and potential All-Star injury replacement Jimmy Butler, who is making his first trip to Oracle Arena with the 76ers. McKinnie will make his first start of the season in Thompson's absence, but appears ready for increased responsibility. Since Jan. 8, McKinnie has played at least 11 minutes in all but one game.
