The 24-year-old Venezuelan could begin a rehab assignment as early as this week, per Amy Gutierrez, who tweeted If all goes well... Panda could start taking full bp Wednesday & start Minor League rehab assignment as soon as Friday.
The plan appears to be for Sandoval to get 20-25 at-bats in the minors before returning to the Giants. The original timetable for his injury was 4-7 weeks. He last played on April 29.
Sandoval was off to a great start when he got injured. He was batting .313 in 24 games with five homers and 14 RBIs. He hit .268 with 13 homers and 63 RBIs last season while helping the Giants win the World Series.
