We are happy to be in, but our goal here is to not just to make the playoffs, but to have an opportunity to win the big prize, said SaberCats Owner and Head Coach Darren Arbet. We still have a lot of work ahead of us and that starts with the preparation this week for the Iowa Barnstormers. This marks the first time that San Jose has clinched a playoff spot since the 2008 season, when the SaberCats reached the ArenaBowl, where they eventually lost to the Philadelphia Soul. Seeding has still yet to be determined, though San Jose currently holds tiebreakers over the Utah Blaze (11-5) and Arizona Rattlers (12-4) if necessary. If the postseason were to begin today, the SaberCats would open on the road against the first-seeded Central Division Champion San Antonio Talons (13-3).The SaberCats wrap up their 2012 regular season next Saturday as they host the Iowa Barnstormers (6-10) at 7:30 p.m. PT at HP Pavilion. The last time these two teams met was on April 28 in Des Moines, when San Jose dominated Iowa 76-33. San Jose is then scheduled with a bye in Week 20, before the postseason begins the following weekend.Courtesy San Jose SaberCats media services.
