Buster Posey left the Giants' game against the Marlins Wednesday after a nasty collision at home plate.

With the game tied at six in the twelfth inning, Scott Cousins tagged from third on a shallow pop fly to Nate Schierholtz, whose throw short-hopped Posey.

Posey was unable to come up with the ball, and was immediately leveled by the speeding Cousins, whose hit twisted Posey's body over his left leg at an awkward angle.

Posey writhed in the dirt around homeplate as Bruce Bochy and trainers rushed out to his aid.

It appeared to be his left ankle that was injured, and after the medical staff did some preliminary tests on his leg, they helped Posey off the field and into the locker room.

Posey did not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field.

Eli Whiteside replaced Posey in the game, and the Giants were unable to respond in the bottom of the frame, falling to the Marlins 7-6 in 12.
