Sharks Pregame Live will Debut New Set on October 5

 

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – October 4, 2019 – NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California, the home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports,” will unveil its new state-of-the-art studio tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 5th) at 6:30 p.m. with Sharks Pregame Live.

 

The new studio, located at the network’s headquarters at 360 3rd Street in San Francisco (South of Market), will feature a sleek, modern and open design and utilize dynamic LED technology, a stunning and interactive video floor, and multiple anchor and reporter positions designed for movement and flexibility.

 

The studio features large displays that are seamlessly integrated into the scenic architecture, making every part of the studio an engaging broadcast location. A sleek LED display runs along the length of the room, forming the backdrop for the main anchor area.  The visual center of the space is the dynamic demo area, with a large wall display and an LED floor, and portrait monitors.

NBC Sports Bay Area’s new studio will primarily serve as the main set for Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers pre- and postgame shows, along with news updates, press conferences, breaking news and magazine shows.  Additionally, the studio will occasionally carry NBC Sports California’s signature programming including San Jose Sharks, Sacramento Kings and Oakland A’s pre- and postgame shows.

 

“Our new studios will provide our anchors, analysts and insiders the ability to provide the region’s most comprehensive, informative and entertaining sports coverage across multiple platforms,” said Matt Murphy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California.  “We’ve created a world-class facility that is designed for innovation and the creation of compelling content for local sports fans.  We’re looking forward with great excitement to tomorrow night’s first broadcast from the new studio.”

 

In addition to the main studio, a secondary studio, also located at the San Francisco headquarters, will debut on Wednesday, Oct. 16th at 7:00 p.m. with Sharks Pregame Live, prior to the Sharks-Carolina Hurricanes game.  The modern studio will primarily host NBC Sports California’s pre- and postgame shows, news updates, press conferences and breaking news.

 

NBC Sports Bay Area Studio highlights include:

  • 2,270-square-foot studio
  • 30-foot-wide LED monitor wall in main anchor area
  • Interactive Demo Area with a 16-foot-wide by 9-foot-tall monitor wall, a 15-foot-wide and 8-foot-deep LED floor, and five vertical monitors
  • 120 LED tiles integrated into the set, including 75 in the walls and 45 in the Demo Area floor
  • Large, full-height images in the studio depicting San Francisco’s world-renowned cityscape; plus, the iconic NBC logo incorporated into the set design  

 

The set design is the result of the partnership of NBC Sports and the design group at Jack Morton Worldwide.  Fabrication work was done by blackwalnut.  Lighting Design and installation was done by The Lighting Design Group.  LED technology was provided by Leyard and Planar.
