Basketball Hall of Fame guard Gary Payton continues to give back to his community.
The Oakland native and former NBA star recently paid it forward by giving back to his hometown’s first responders working hard amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Payton stopped by Alta Bates Summit Medical Campus in Oakland on Saturday, bringing barbecue sandwiches and sides from a local Kinder’s.

The nine-time All-Star didn’t just stop at first responders, though. He made sure security guards were taken care of as well. About 200 workers were given something to eat, TMZ reported, including 30 sandwiches that made their way to the ICU.

TMZ also reported Payton has a friend currently in that hospital, which was a little extra incentive.
Payton has left his legacy on the Bay Area in more ways than one.
