
Sometimes, players will take out newspaper ads to say goodbye to fans when they leave town. Brian Johnson of the Giants, for example, took out an ad in 1998 when he left the Giants and signed with the Cincinnati Reds. It's happened elsewhere, too.Monta Ellis did say goodbye -- in person-- to the Bay Area last Friday when his Bucks came to town, but he decided to say hello to Milwaukee via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:
