The Sacramento Kings extended a qualifying offer to Marcus Thornton and waived Jermaine Taylor, the team announced Tuesday.
Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie announced the offer to Thornton, which makes him a restricted free agent.

Thornton came over to Sacramento from the New Orleans Hornets in February and averaged 21.3 points in 27 games with the Kings.
Taylor started the season with the Houston Rockets but came over to the Kings and played in 26 games, including eight starts, and averaged 7.1 points per game.
