Kemp headed for MRI after aggravating hamstring injury

The Giants' chances to catch the Dodgers in the N.L. West just got a lot better.Matt Kemp, who owns a .355 average with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs, aggravated his hamstring injury in just his second game back from a stint on the 15-day disabled list.In the first inning of the Dodgers' 6-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, Kemp worked a four-pitch walk. Andre Ethier followed with a double, and Kemp scored all the way from first, but came up lame on his way to the plate.Kemp broke a bat over his leg upon returning to the dugout."It feels worse than the first time," he said. "This is my first time ever really having any hamstring problems, so I don't know how to really treat it."Kemp is scheduled to undergo an MRI Thursday, and another trip to the DL appears likely, especially with the Dodgers' recent call up of Alex Castellanos from Triple-A Albuquerque. While a corresponding roster move has yet to be announced, Kemp to the DL appears to be a logical assumption.
"I just felt it grab a little bit. It's hurting pretty good right now, so we'll see what the MRI says tomorrow," Kemp said. "We went through all the tests, and I was running real hard and doing everything normal. I don't know what happened. The Dodgers currently lead the Giants by 5.5 games in the N.L. West with a 32-18 record and went 9-5 in Kemp's absence from May 14 through May 28.
