Giants' Ross departs spring game with calf strain

Giants outfielder Cody Ross left Wednesday's spring training game with Angels after injuring his right leg in the outfield.

A report on the team's official Web site said Ross sustained a right calf strain.

Ross departed in the first inning after running to catch a fly ball off the bat by Alberto Callaspo. He pulled up lame before reaching the ball and left the field with a noticeable limp.

Ross was replaced by Nate Schierholtz.
