The Giants have placed Jonathan Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with left biceps tendinitis, and activated Barry Zito.

Sanchez had walked at least five batters in four of his last five starts, and hadn't gotten out of the fifth inning in his last two starts. He leads MLB with 59 walks.

On Friday, Bruce Bochy announced that Barry Zito would start Game 2 of the Giants' doubleheader next Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs, raising speculation about what the Giants would do with their starting rotation.

In Zito's final rehab start in Fresno on Tuesday night, he threw a two-hit, complete-game shutout.
