The San Jose Mercury News originally reported it, shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday, via Twitter.
Romo's last outing was Aug. 9 when he said he felt pain in his elbow while pitching to Pittsburgh slugger Derrek Lee. Tests have ruled out structural damage but the joint has not responded to rest.
Romo is 3-1 with a microscopic 1.67 ERA. The earliest he could return is Aug. 25.
In Fresno, Runzler is 2-3 with a 4.17 ERA. He started Sunday for the Grizzlies, allowing three runs on five hits while issuing four walks in four innings.
