Sanchez will get a second opinion from Dr. Gary Waslewski, who performed a previous surgery on Sanchez's left shoulder. The Giants plan to have Sanchez rehab for a few weeks before determining whether surgery is necessary. If it is, Sanchez would miss the rest of the season.
Sanchez, injured in the Giants' 3-2 win over the Red on June 10, was batting .289 with three home runs and 24 RBI before injuring his shoulder.
