This isn't how he envisioned his first full year on the job, but Cubs manager Mike Quade is still going to the All-Star Game.
San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced Tuesday that Quade will be part of the National League's coaching staff. Quade replaces ex-manager Jim Riggleman, who abruptly resigned last week from the Washington Nationals.

It caught Quade completely by surprise. He shrugged his shoulders and almost seemed embarrassed to talk about it after a blowout loss to the Giants. But he appreciates the opportunity to go to Phoenix for one of the industry's marquee events.
"Wonderful honor," Quade said. "Wish I was calling (Bochy) to ask him to come with me. That's what I'd like to do someday."
