The California Golden Bears baseball team defeated the Baylor Bears, 8-0, late Sunday evening. Cal called upon sophomore reliever Justin Jones to protect its 1-0 lead in the top of the 8th, despite Jones having pitched 6.1 innings of relief the night before against Alcorn State. Jones answered the call by retiring Baylor in order, and was rewarded when Cal poured on seven runs in the bottom of the 8th to break open what was a highly competitive affair. It was the second win of the day for the Bears, who defeated the Rice Owls earlier in the afternoon, in a game that saw a 2 hour and 45 minute lightning delay between the top and bottom of the 8th inning.Cal lost to Baylor in game one of the Houston regional on Friday night. They will meet again tomorrow at 4:00 pm for the third time in four days, with the winner advancing to the super regional.
