The California Golden Bears baseball team kept its season alive after beating the Rice Owls, 6-3, Sunday evening. Following the top of the 8th, lightning delayed the game for over an hour, but Cal was able to keep its composure, where Rice was not.

Three Rice errors in the bottom of the 8th plated three Cal runs, and Bears closer Matt Flemer earned his 5th save of the season with a four out save.
Cal now needs to beat the Baylor Bears twice to advance to a Super Regional, and will get their first opportunity late Sunday night. Should Cal win, the teams will meet again on Monday to decide who moves on.
Baylor beat Cal on Friday night in game 1 of the Houston regional, 6-4.
