Brandon Belt went 2-for-4 with two singles in his first rehab start for Single-A San Jose on Saturday night.

Belt was placed on the 15-day DL June 4 with a hairline fracture in his left wrist.

It has been a frustrating rookie season for the 23-year old, who started the season in the majors, but was optioned back to AAA Fresno after batting just .172 in 17 games.

He was recalled by the Giants on May 26 and went 2-for-5 in two appearances, but fractured his wrist after being hit by a pitch in the Giants' 4-3 loss to the Cardinals on May 31.

Initial x-rays were negative, but additional images did in fact show a small fracture.

Belt hopes to be back with the Giants soon.
