For the first time ever Saturday, the Belmont Stakes will kick off the Triple Crown series.
The coronavirus pandemic has altered the horse-racing schedule, with Saturday's 152nd running of the Belmont Stakes being the first of the three major races to be held. Originally scheduled for June 6, Saturday's race has been shortened from a mile-and-a-half to a mile-and-an-eighth with a $1 million purse on the line. There will be no spectators or horse owners in attendance.
