San Jose State thrashed in second half by New Mexico

SAN JOSE -- Elijah Brown tied a career high with 33 points and grabbed six rebounds to help New Mexico beat San Jose State 83-64 on Saturday.

The Lobos led 57-40 after a 14-3 run capped by Brown's free throws with 13:57 left. Late in the second half, Brown had a 3-point play, a dunk and a 3-pointer during a 10-0 run that iced it for New Mexico State.

Tim Williams added 22 points and 10 rebounds and Dane Kuiper had a career-high 11 points for the Lobos (11-8, 4-2 Mountain West).

Brown made 4 of 5 from 3-point range, 10 of 15 overall and 9 of 9 from the foul line in his third 30-point game of the season. The 33 points matched the sophomore's output in an 83-78 loss against Auburn on Dec. 22.

Frank Rogers scored 16 and Brandon Clarke added 14 for the Spartans (6-14, 1-7).
