Report: Baylor focusing head coaching search on Cal's Sonny Dykes

Texas-native Sonny Dykes is reportedly drawing interest from a team in his home state.

The Baylor Bears, a program in turmoil due to a sexual assault scandal, are turning their attention to the Cal head coach, according to ESPN

Acting head coach Jim Grobe informed Baylor administrators that he would be stepping down at the conclusion of the 2016 season. Grobe took over after Art Briles was fired for his involvement in the scandal.

In four seasons with Cal, Dykes has posted a 19-30 record with just one winning campaign and one bowl game appearance, a win over Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl in 2015.

Dykes is under contract with Cal through the 2019 season after signing an extension following the 2015 season.

Prior to getting his first head coaching job at Louisiana Tech in 2010, Dykes was a coordinator at Texas Tech from 2000 to 2006.
