BOX SCOREBERKELEY --Justin Cobbs scored a season-high 25 points and played stellar defense to make up for the loss of Jorge Gutierrez, as California beat UC Santa Barbara 70-50 in the Pete Newell Classic on Monday.
Gutierrez, the Bear's point guard and second-leading scorer, missed the game due to illness.
Allen Crabbe had 19 points and six rebounds for the Golden Bears, who made a season-high 11 3-pointers.
