What Grant Napear misses about sports during coronavirus hiatus

Editor's note: Like you, NBC Sports Bay Area insiders, reporters and analysts are feeling the sports void during the coronavirus stoppage. They'll share their thoughts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in "What I Miss About Sports." Next up in the series: Kings play-by-play announcer Grant Napear.

"If you don't like that, you don't like Kings basketball!"

What we wouldn't give to hear Kings play-by-play announcer Grant Napear shout that phrase right now. We miss it so much.

But much like the Kings, Napear isn't on our TVs right now due to the global coronavirus pandemic. The 2019-20 NBA season is on hold, and no one knows when it will resume.

NBC Sports Bay Area has been asking your favorite personalities to tell us what they miss about sports.

Here's what Napear misses about sports:

"What I miss the most about sports: I miss everything. I mean everything, because it consumes my life.

"First and foremost, I miss the people that I work with, the people at the arena, the people that I've known for so many years like [Kings radio announcer] Gary Gerould, and there are so many others that I miss seeing, they are a big part of my life.

"But probably the exuberance that comes with everything associated with a big win, whether it's the Kings or the teams that I root for. I miss the interaction with the fans. I miss getting on social media and bantering back and forth.

"So it is a wide range of emotions that I'm going through right now. I'm sure you have the same emotions as me. But basically, in a nutshell, I miss everything."
