After clinching their first NBA playoff berth in 17 years during their two-game road trip to Portland, the Kings had quite the scene waiting for them back in Sacramento as they returned home Friday night.
There was a twinge of nostalgia in the air as cowbells rang out, along with reminders of the team's current success ringing loud and clear through a bellowing "Light the beam" chant. And through the various forms of celebration, a collective sigh of relief from a fan base was tangible even through videos of the airport scene.
And the Kings players themselves, who ignored doubters to bring such a moment back to Sacramento, were thrilled to see their fans.
But perhaps the happiest was the Kings' fearless leader, coach Mike Brown, who helped the franchise return to the playoffs for the first time since 2006 during his first year in Sacramento.
It certainly has been a long time coming, Sacramento. Fans are reveling in the moment, and deservedly so.

Next up, the postseason. And, hopefully for Kings fans, they'll get to celebrate the team's next accomplishment inside Golden 1 Center.
