With a little over 24 hours before the start of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Kings still are turning over every stone in their search for the perfect fit with the No. 9 overall pick.
A league source confirmed to NBC Sports California that the Kings interviewed Australian point guard Josh Giddey in the buildup to the draft and even made a trip to Las Vegas to see him work out with the Australian national team.
Giddey is one of the more intriguing prospects in Thursday's draft. Listed as 6-foot-8, 205 pounds, the 18-year-old played 32 minutes per game last season for Adelaide of the Australian Basketball League. His basketball IQ is off the charts and he comes to the league with a year of valuable professional experience under his belt.

Known for his court vision and ability to set up his teammates, Giddey posted an impressive line in his lone season in the NBL, finishing the year at 10.9 points, 7.5 assists and 7.4 rebounds per game.

His ability to rebound and find the outlet man makes him an intriguing fit in Sacramento, especially if he can fit into a lineup with speedsters De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. Giddey needs time to fill out and grow into his body, but there is potential for him to play shooting guard and even small forward down the line.
While Giddey isn't a knock down 3-point shooter, he's shown promise. He also needs to become a better defender, but his playmaking and ability to initiate a break is intriguing.

Sacramento has done an exceptional job of landing interviews with almost every player that is scheduled to go from No. 7 all the way to the mid-20s in the upcoming draft. This hasn't always been the case.
