Could the Kings move the No. 12 pick in this month's draft?
In his latest “NBA Draft Intel” article, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony dropped this tidbit about the Kings and their potential to trade the No. 12 overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft scheduled for Nov. 18.
“Picks belonging to the Sacramento Kings (No. 12), Boston Celtics (No. 14), Wolves (No. 17), Dallas Mavericks (No. 18), Brooklyn Nets (No. 19) and Miami Heat (No. 20) are the most prevalent in trade conversations lately, per sources," Givony wrote Monday.

SIGN UP HERE New Kings general manager Monte McNair is in an interesting spot. He has a very short window to recreate his roster in his own image. He also has major decisions to make regarding restricted free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic, disgruntled shooting guard Buddy Hield and a max contract extension for De’Aaron Fox, as well as a handful of additional free agent decisions.
The No. 12 pick is a solid position in this year’s draft. There should be plenty of wings and guards available when McNair and the Kings are on the clock. It’s also a wide-open field, which means there is potential for the Kings to move up or down the board.
In addition to the first round selection, McNair also has picks No. 35, 43 and 52 in the second round. The Kings might have enough ammunition to move into the top 10 if they believe the right player is obtainable.
There is also potential for the Kings to move back slightly in the draft and acquire more assets, especially if they are convinced the grouping of players between picks No. 12 and No. 20 are somewhat interchangeable.

This is McNair’s first offseason running his own franchise, so it’s hard to gauge how aggressive he will be. The fact that there are rumors surrounding the pick is encouraging. The Kings need more than a slight adjustment to the roster if they hope to compete in a loaded Western Conference.
With just nine days remaining before the draft, the rumor mill is only going to get noisier. Very few things should be off the table in Sacramento.
