De'Aaron Fox has played like an All-Star this 2022-23 NBA season, and a lot of that has to do with the extra work he put in during the offseason.
Recee Fox and De'Aaron spoke with NBC Sports California's Kyle Draper on a recent episode of "Kings Central" to explain the origins of her "Can't say he doesn't care" tweet, which showcased De'Aaron working out during their honeymoon in August.
"So right after the season ended, we just went into the offseason -- there was no rest or anything like that," Recee said. "So from April all the way until August 7th, we didn't have off days."
Recee recalled the couple continued working out every day, even during a crucial point in their lives.
"Like the day of the rehearsal, we worked out, the wedding rehearsal," she told Draper.
Recee then said the newlyweds went to Italy, after a quick trip to the Maldives, and met with Kings assistant coach Luke Loucks to work out. However, Recee noticed that De'Aaron looked determined.
"I was like, 'Let's re-evaluate,' and he was like, 'I'm ready to go back like I want to get in the gym,' and I was like, 'Bet, me too.' " Recee said.
The couple added that after four days in Italy and the Maldives, the pair went home to Sacramento to continue preparing for the season.
When asked by Draper how he feels to have a partner willing to cut their honeymoon short so that he can continue to get better, De'Aaron said that is how the duo works because Recee understands the grind of being a professional basketball player.

Recee played for USA Basketball and at Cal, Texas Tech and UCLA during her collegiate years. She was also a Mcdonald's All-American in high school.
"I think it's easy for her to be like, 'Let's get in the gym' because she wants to see me play at my best," De'Aaron told Draper. "Plus when I'm playing well, the house is happier, especially during the season -- it's much better.
"I just think we were like a perfect fit for each other."
It appears as if De'Aaron's off-season work has paid off so far.
Through 32 games this season, he is averaging 23.4 points, 5.9 assists and 4.7 rebounds while shooting almost 50 percent from the field -- a career-high -- for the 19-16 Kings.
He and center Domantas Sabonis have put Sacramento on the path of being playoff contenders for the first time in 16 seasons. What's more, De'Aaron's play has him in line potentially to make his first All-Star team.

With De'Aaron's play helping lift the Kings to playoff contenders this season, it's easy to see his offseason work paying dividends.
And with Recee encouraging him every step of the way, De'Aaron's dedication to the Kings and helping the team get to where it wants to be is clear.
