NBA L2M: Refs missed crucial call on Fox's game-tying attempt

De'Aaron Fox believed he was fouled on a game-tying shot attempt late in the Kings' loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, and the NBA's Last Two Minute Report backed up the point guard's sentiment on Thursday.

Inside the final 30 seconds of Wednesday night's game, Fox drove and spun inside against former Kings guard Delon Wright, appearing to draw some contact on his left arm on the way up.

"Wright (ATL) swipes down and initiates contact with Fox's (SAC) left elbow during his upward shooting motion," the NBA's L2MR said, confirming the missed call.

"Yes, he definitely hit my elbow," Fox told reporters after the game Wednesday night. "Non-calls like that definitely change the game, I think it's a bit different if you're going to the rim and there's body contact like that, that's a bang-bang play and you might miss that.

"I mean I got to the same spot like four or five times in a row, and I don't know if they just think I decided to air ball that time, where I just took the same shot a few times. But it's definitely a game-changer because we're down two at the time, so if I go to the line and make both, whatever it may be, it's a tie game or we're down one, whatever it is.

"Instead it was a no-call, the shot clock was off so we had to foul. Kevin's a good free-throw shooter so he makes two and now we're down four, and it's an entirely different game than if we're tied or down one rather than being down two then going down four."

Interim coach Alvin Gentry also acknowledged after the game that he disagreed with the call in the moment, but also recognized that no game comes down to a single moment.

The L2MR did find one incorrect call that went for the Kings, as Buddy Hield should have been whistled for a shooting foul on Onyeka Okongwu's layup with 1:42 remaining that gave the Hawks a 98-95 lead.

The Kings will have a chance to get back on track Friday when they face the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena.
