Two of the NBA's brightest young star guards will miss their matchups with the Kings this week.

The Detroit Pistons have ruled out 2021 No. 1 overall draft pick Cade Cunningham for Sunday's game against the Kings at Golden 1 Center due to a shin injury.

The Athletic's Sham Charania reported Saturday, citing sources, that 21-year-old Cunningham has a stress fracture in his shin and is out indefinitely as he and the Pistons devise a proper treatment plan.

Detroit is scheduled to face the Kings on Sunday at Golden 1 Center as part of its six-game Western Conference road trip and will have to do so without Cunningham.

The 6-foot-6 guard had not played since Nov. 9 against the Boston Celtics, where he scored four points on 1-of-11 shooting, grabbed three rebounds, dished two assists and a block in 24 minutes.

In the 2022-23 NBA season, Cunningham is averaging 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 33.3 minutes a game for the rebuilding Pistons.

Pistons forward Saddiq Bey also is set to miss the matchup with a right ankle sprain. The 23-year-old will sit out his first game of the season after suiting up for Detroit's previous 17 contests.

Additionally, Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant likely will miss Memphis' matchup with the Kings on Tuesday after spraining his left ankle against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. He is considered week-to-week as the Grizzlies determine how to best approach their stars' injury.

Morant sustained the injury in the fourth quarter after landing awkwardly and trying to move backward following his floating shot attempt.

An MVP candidate early in the season, Morant is averaging 28.6 points, 7.1 assists and 6.2 rebounds to go along with 1.1 steals in 33.1 minutes a game for the upstart Grizzlies.

Although the Kings will be playing teams without their star players, Sacramento can ill afford to overestimate its opponents, especially as the team tries to build a winning culture.

The Kings must treat every opponent the same if they want to make it to the playoffs
