The Kings victory beam is beloved by just about everyone in NBA circles, especially those lucky enough to stare at the radiant purple lasers lighting up the Sacramento night sky after a victory. But like any signature feature tied to a sports franchise, it also opens up the Kings to a bit of trolling from other teams and fan bases.
The Denver Nuggets' official Twitter account seized its opportunity to poke fun at the beam Tuesday night after powering past the Kings 113-106 at Golden 1 Center. But 24 hours later, the Kings fought back from a 19-point deficit and outscored the Nuggets by 12 points in the fourth quarter to steal a 127-126 victory in front of nearly 18,000 fans at home.
Bring on the vengeance memes.
The Nuggets aren't the first team to reference the victory beam after taking down the Kings, and they certainly won't be the last. The Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks already have unveiled their Photoshopped versions of the beam this season.
