The Kings have hired former player and NBC Sports California broadcaster Doug Christie as an assistant coach on Luke Walton's staff.
The Kings announced the move in a press release on Monday.
“It’s been a dream of mine to coach for the Sacramento Kings,” Christie said in the release. “I feel like I have some unfinished business. I’d like to thank my family at NBC Sports California as well as KHTK for an amazing ride. I look forward to working with Coach Walton to deliver a winning team to the great fans of Sacramento.”

“Doug has been a pillar within the Sacramento Kings organization for decades,” Walton said in the release. “I’m excited to add his years of basketball knowledge and energy to our coaching staff and our great group of players.”

Christie, a 14-year NBA veteran, played for the Kings from 2000-05 and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team in four of those seasons. He retired after the 2006-07 season.
Before this current role on Walton's staff, Christie worked for NBC Sports California as a color commentator on Kings television broadcasts since 2018 and as an analyst on pre/postgame shows before that.
