The Kings will be without Domantas Sabonis on Wednesday night when they face the Denver Nuggets at Golden 1 Center.

The NBA announced Wednesday that is was suspending the star center for one game for aggressively confronting and making contact with a game official in the Kings' loss to the New York Knicks on Monday.

Sabonis was unhappy with a foul call in the fourth quarter and was given a technical foul. After getting hit with the technical foul, Sabonis bumped the official and was quickly given his second technical and ejected.

The Kings released a statement Thursday after the suspension was announced, saying they disagreed with the NBA's decision.

The suspension comes at a bad time for the Kings, as they face NBA MVP frontrunner Nikola Jokic on Wednesday.

This season against the Kings, Jokic is averaging 25.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 9.0 assists. With the Kings not having Sabonis or Richaun Holmes, it could be a long night at Golden 1 Center for Alvin Gentry's club.

The KIngs enter Wednesday's game at 24-43 and in 13th place in the Western Conference.

While Sacramento is only four games back of the No. 10 seeded New Orleans Pelicans, the Kings are running out of time to make a run at the play-in tournament.
