Fun facts about Kings' five-game win streak, start to season

It's safe to say the Kings are rolling right now following their 130-112 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at Golden 1 Center.

Winners of five straight and six of its last eight games -- with those two losses coming as a result of questionable no-calls -- Sacramento (8-6) has vaulted itself into the conversation as an early-season feel-good story.

During this five-game win streak, the Kings have scored 120-plus points in each game, tying a record they set more than 50 years ago when the team was known as the Cincinnati Royals.

Overall, Sacramento is averaging 130.4 points per game during this win streak, which is the best in the league. For the season, the Kings are averaging 120.3 points per game, which is second-most in the NBA.

Only the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics (12-3) score more points than Sacramento at 120.4 points per game.

The Kings also have shot over 50 percent in each of their last five wins, tying a 36-year-old record, and currently are undefeated when they shoot 50 percent or better from the field.

This is further evidence that the Kings' offense, led by star guard De'Aaron Fox, has been elite to start the 2022-23 NBA season.

Hosting the rebuilding Detroit Pistons (3-13) on Sunday at Golden 1 Center, the Kings are hoping to win their sixth straight game, a feat the team has not accomplished in 16 seasons.

As it stands, the Kings are 1.5 games out of first place in the Western Conference. With an 8-6 record, Sacramento would be tied for the fourth seed in the east with the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team they beat during this win streak.

It's still early in the season, but there's no denying what coach Mike Brown has instilled is working and it won't be long before the rest of the NBA takes notice of Sacramento.
