Two Kings are up for awards after Sacramento's stellar 2022-23 NBA season.
The NBA announced Friday afternoon that coach Mike Brown and guard De'Aaron Fox are finalists for the Coach of the Year and Clutch Player of the Year awards, respectively.
Brown joins Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault and Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla as finalists for the coaching accolade. Meanwhile, Fox is competing with Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler and Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan for his award.
The upstart Kings ended their 17-year playoff drought and secured the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference thanks, in large part, to Brown's leadership and tutelage. Brown was voted the Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday.

Fox, who was named an All-Star for the first time this season, led the league in clutch scoring with 194 total points in crunch time on 52.9 percent shooting from the field and 31.8 percent from 3-point range.
Both Fox and Brown each have made a strong case for their respective awards.
It also is worth mentioning that Kings forward Keegan Murray, who broke the rookie record for 3-pointers in a season, was not one of the three finalists for the Rookie of the Year award.
Sacramento guard Malik Monk, who was a key weapon off the bench for the Kings this season, was not a finalist for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
The Kings, however, have their sights set on bigger goals as they prepare for their first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors starting on Saturday at Golden 1 Center.
