Barnes beats buzzer, Cavs, with absurd 3 in Kings' win

Harrison Barnes was a two-year starter at North Carolina, but he pulled a page out of a Duke legend's playbook in the Kings' win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night at Golden 1 Center.

Barnes drained a buzzer-beating, turnaround 3-pointer to seal Sacramento's 100-98 victory. With shades of Christian Laettner, Barnes gave the Kings some March Madness of their own with a cold-blooded game-winner after catching De'Aaron Fox's full-court heave.

Back-slapping Collin Sexton after draining a 3-pointer in his face might've been even colder.

"I was just trying to get a good look up," Barnes told Kayte Christensen in a postgame interview during NBC Sports California's all-women and non-binary telecast. "We put ourselves in a position to have a chance to win this game. Those last-second heaves, they can always go either way, but [I] just tried to relax and let it fly."

Barnes scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting Saturday, making his only 3-pointer when it mattered most. The 28-year-old handed the Kings their fourth straight win in the process, matching Sacramento's previous season-long winning streak.

The Kings ended Saturday only a game back of the 10th-place Warriors for the Western Conference's final play-in spot. If Barnes' new team leapfrogs his old one in the standings and, ultimately, makes the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, his March moment will be one to look back upon.
