AD could miss multiple Lakers-Kings games with reported injury

Anthony Davis is playing some of the best basketball of his NBA career at the moment, but the Lakers star reportedly is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to a foot injury.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday, citing sources, that Davis will miss multiple weeks after injuring his right foot during the Lakers' win over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. The former No. 1 overall pick had an MRI on Saturday.

The injury could cause Davis to miss multiple matchups against the Kings, as the two Pacific Division rivals are scheduled to play each other on Wednesday, Dec. 21, Saturday, Jan. 7 and Wednesday, Jan. 18.

After the Kings and Lakers played in November, the matchups over the next month are their final three matchups this season. In their first meeting of the season, Davis finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds in the Kings' 120-114 win.

So far this season, Davis has played in 25 of the Lakers' 28 games and is averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per contest.

Entering Sunday's slate of games, the Lakers (12-16) trail the Kings (16-12) by two-and-a-half games in the Western Conference standings, and Davis' latest injury could drive a big wedge between the two teams.

While the Kings might not have to deal with Davis in a few of their upcoming games, they will have to prepare for LeBron James, so none of these games will be easy. But Davis' absence makes them easier.
