In a season of disappointment and frustration, the news isn’t getting any better for the Sacramento Kings.
NBC Sports California has confirmed that second-year big man Marvin Bagley visited a foot specialist and has aggravated his left midfoot sprain, and will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
Forward Richaun Holmes, who has missed the last 10 games with a right shoulder joint injury, is expected to return to full-contact basketball activities soon and could return to game action next week, the Kings announced.

Bagley originally injured his foot on Dec. 26 and missed eight games with a mid-foot sprain. He returned to action on Jan. 13 against the Orlando Magic and played four straight games, but has missed the previous three after the flare up.
After sitting out 20 games last season due to injury, Bagley has seen action in just 13 of the Kings’ 44 games this season. He broke his right thumb in the season opener against the Suns, which cost him 22 games. The original foot injury cost him eight games initially, but it appears he will miss at least a total of 11 with the current setback.
The 20-year-old is averaging 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds in 25.7 minutes per game. He was coming off a strong showing against the Heat where he posted 15 points and 15 rebounds in a tough overtime loss.

Sacramento has 10 more games between now and the Feb. 16 All-Star game. The team returns to action on Feb. 20 against the Memphis Grizzlies. Hopefully nearly a month off will help Bagley get healed up and back on the court for the final 28 games of the season.
With Bagley sidelined, expect the Kings to rely heavily on veteran Nemanja Bjelica at power forward. Holmes continues to miss games as well with a right shoulder joint injury, but he is nearing the two-week mark in his recovery and will be re-examined by the team in the coming days.
