Kings' Lawson refutes report that there is warrant out for his arrest

Ty Lawson is on the defense.

A day after TMZ Sports reported that the the Denver Probabation Department was attempting to issue a bench warrant for a probation violation, the Kings point guard has issued a statement.

"Reports that there is a warrant out for Mr. Lawson's arrest are incorrect. On March, 22, 2016 the court reset this matter for March 22, 2017 to review Mr. Lawson's probation status. All related matters will be reviewed by the court at that time," Lawson's attorney, Harvey Steinberg said on Wednesday.

Lawson's probation related to a drunk driving case from 2015.

The veteran guard, who signed with the Kings last offseason, spent the first six seasons of his career with the Denver Nuggets. After stops in Houston and Indiana, he inked a one-year, league minimum deal with Sacramento late in the offseason. In 57 games, including 20 starts, Lawson is averaging 9.3 points and 4.7 assists in 25.4 minutes per game.
