BOX SCORE

Compete. That is exactly what the Sacramento Kings did Wednesday night when they faced off with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Kings competed for 48 minutes -- and then another five minutes of overtime -- to shock the champs by a final of 116-112 on their home floor.

DeMarcus Cousins struggled to find his shooting stroke all night, but his teammates kept the Kings in the game. Cousins finished one helper shy of a triple-double, scoring 28 points on 10-for-30 shooting and adding nine assists and 11 rebounds.

With Rudy Gay sidelined, the Kings need someone to step up and score points. Against the Cavs, it was point guard Darren Collison. The veteran dropped in 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting.

Malachi Richardson showed no fear in his 14 minutes of action. The rookie shooting guard went at veteran Kyle Korver, hitting the Cavs for 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting. He’s earning more minutes every time he steps on the floor.

Garrett Temple came out aggressive early, scoring 10 points in the first quarter. He finished the night with 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting and chipped in four steals.

Arron Afflalo hit 5-of-8 from the floor for 14 points, including a huge 3-pointer in the overtime session that gave the Kings the lead. Willie Cauley-Stein played big minutes, scoring eight points and grabbing 10 rebounds while energizing the defense.

LeBron James looked lost in the first half, but he woke up after the intermission to score 10 of his 24 points in the third. He added 13 rebounds and 11 assists for a bigtime triple-double.

Iman Shumpert hurt the Kings all night long. Known more for his defense, the Cavs starting shooting guard punished Sacramento from the perimeter, scoring 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting.

It seems like a pretty simple concept: Don’t leave Kyle Korver open. But with all eyes on the Cavs' stars, Korver always seems to catch someone napping. Wednesday against the Kings, the sharpshooter hit 4-for-7 from long range on his way to 12 points.

Kevin Love chipped in 22 points and 16 rebounds and Kyrie Irving added 20 points and six assists.
