A day after being waived by the Sacramento Kings, a source confirms to CSN that Marshall Henderson and Vince Hunter are being considered for roster spots with the Reno Bighorns, the team’s D-League affiliate.
Both players received partially guaranteed contracts with the Kings during the offseason. Clearly Sacramento had some hope that these two would stick with the organization, instead of chasing more lucrative contracts overseas.
Hunter, 21, went undrafted this summer out of UTEP. The power forward prospect averaged 14.9 points and 9.2 rebounds as a sophomore last season. He played just two minutes for the Kings during the preseason.

Henderson’s path to the league has taken him around the world, with stops in Qatar and the Iraqi Super League. The 6-foot-2 guard expressed his thoughts on joining the Bighorns last month if his tryout with the Kings didn’t pan out.
“I want to be on the Kings, but Reno would be a lot of fun,” Henderson told CSN. “The good thing about the D-League is you’re right there below the NBA, you’re just a 10-day contract from hitting it big. If things didn’t work out and Reno was an opportunity, that would be a lot of fun and definitely something I’d consider.”
The free wielding guard is a perfect match for Reno’s Grinnell-style offense. Henderson loves to shoot from long range and the Bighorns averaged nearly 47 attempts from 3-point land per game last season.

Bighorns head coach David Arsenault Jr. worked on George Karl’s staff throughout training camp in San Diego with the hopes of building continuity between the parent club and the affiliate.

“Coach Karl and his staff have welcomed me into the gym to be with the team and to learn from those guys,” Arsenault told CSN. “They have an incredible amount of knowledge and we’re trying to build the synergy between the two programs.”
Arsenault spent plenty of time during camp working with Hunter, Henderson and the rest of the Kings training camp roster.
Sacramento’s roster currently sits at 16 players. At least one more NBA hopeful will get a pink slip before the season begins later this month.
