Woj ends Klay update by taking phone call mid-interview

It’s rude to leave in the middle of a conversation, but not when you’re Adrian Wojnarowski.

ESPN’s NBA insider took a call toward the end of his on-camera interview during a segment Wednesday discussing Warriors star Klay Thompson's injury to a lower part of his right leg.

Woj never stops, and he, of course, is granted a pass for this one because this is pretty devastating news on top of the fact that the 2020 NBA Draft began on Wednesday night.

We don’t have a lot of specifics or know the severity yet on Klay’s injury. But what we know now is he suffered this injury during a workout in Southern California. Warriors public relations tweeted out there is no other information available at this time.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania said Klay was “unable to place weight on his lower leg injury leaving the gym,” citing sources.

The five-time All-Star is coming off a torn left ACL that he sustained during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors last June forcing him to miss the entirety of the 2019-20 season.

The timing for someone of Klay’s caliber to have an injury is never ideal, but the news happening right before the draft definitely added a new wrinkle to the entire situation.

The Warriors ended up taking James Wiseman at the No. 2 overall pick, so it appears they stuck with their original plan despite not knowing the severity of Klay's injury.
