Wiseman admits he actually likes being yelled at by Draymond

At his introductory press conference a day after being drafted by the Warriors, James Wiseman received some important advice from Bob Myers. Golden State's general manager and president of basketball operations wanted to prepare the No. 2 overall pick for what to expect in his rookie season, but more specifically, what to expect from Draymond Green.

"James, you've got to understand when he yells at you or Nico [Mannion], he still loves you," Myers told Wiseman last month. "He wants to win so bad. Don't take it personally."

With both Wiseman and Green being held out of the early part of training camp due to COVID-19 protocols, the rookie's tutelage under the former Defensive Player of the Year was delayed. But once they were cleared to join their team, it didn't take long for Wiseman to experience what Myers had tried to prepare him for.

"Oh yeah, today," Wiseman told reporters Wednesday when asked if Green had yelled at him yet. "I already went through that, so I already know what to expect. But I like that. I like challenges. I love that. That's just constructive criticism. He's just telling me stuff so I can improve my game. I don't look at it as being in my feelings or being sympathetic or nothing. I actually like that."

That's what the Warriors want to hear. Wiseman has all the potential in the world, but in order for him to fulfill it, he has to have that mentality. Green will continue to bark, and the more Wiseman can glean from his feedback, the better player he'll be.

Of course, Green isn't just yelling for the fun of it. He's making a point, and usually one the recipient needs to hear.

So, what was Green getting on Wiseman about on Wednesday?

"Being more patient and slowing down," Wiseman explained, "and just making sure that I survey the floor first before I create a play."
