Defense, once again, is a point of concern for the Warriors, six games into the 2022-23 NBA season.
Before Golden State's game against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday at Little Caesars Arena, Warriors coach Steve Kerr spoke about the inconsistent defensive effort so far.
"You have to be in sync on defense and part of being in sync is having five guys talking, really being comfortable with the scheme and with trusting each other on the communication," Kerr told reporters. "So some of that has been lacking, you saw some problems last night in our switching and defense.

"So it's all stuff we have to get better with."
In the Warriors' 120-113 overtime loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night, Golden State gave up 40 points in the fourth quarter and in overtime combined.
At one point, the Hornets led by as many as 15 points before the Warriors climbed back in the third quarter.
As it stands, the Warriors are 19th in the league in defensive rating (114.3), per Basketball Reference.

Although Golden State held the Hornets to 42.2 percent shooting from the field and 32.3 percent from 3-point land, the Warriors are allowing opponents to 55.6 percent from the field -- tied with Charlotte for 20th in the NBA, ironically enough.
The Warriors also committed 31 fouls Saturday night, the most since 2015, leading to 24 extra points for the Hornets.
This isn't the first time Kerr called out the Warriors' lack of defensive intensity.
On Oct. 24, Kerr spoke at length about how Golden State has not focused on transition defense and poked fun at the porous defense in the Warriors' loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Draymond Green, the Warriors' defensive anchor, hopes the communication on that end of the floor will sort itself out in due time.
With Klay Thompson -- another defensive presence -- resting against the Pistons, the Warriors will need to do a lot of communicating if they are to start righting the ship.
