The 2022-23 NBA season has seen the young talent on the Warriors -- including Jonathan Kuminga -- go through adversity in the early going.
Kuminga played 23 minutes in Golden State's 112-104 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday at Chase Center and is quickly moving up the rotation chart for coach Steve Kerr.

Although the 20-year-old recorded 10 points and went 4-of-4 from the floor, Kerr went to Moses Moody when wanting offense despite Kuminga having a relatively good game.
"We wanted to get some shooting on the floor, so we went to Moses before we went to JK and [Anthony] Lamb as well," Kerr told reporters postgame. "So with [Andrew] Wiggins out, it just changed the rotation."
Kuminga shouldn't hang his head too low, as his defense earned him more minutes after playing less than 20 in each of his last two games.
"[Kuminga's] defense has really been excellent, and, you know, he's guarding some of the tougher players for the opposing team, whether it's a point guard or a wing," Kerr said after the loss.

"He's got great size, and he's smart. You know, he's really starting to figure out how to defend without fouling and try to bother those ball handlers. And so he's earning minutes for sure."

In October, Kuminga reportedly was unhappy with his minutes. Now in December, Kerr is giving the Warriors' wing an opportunity to earn minutes due to his defense.
Kuminga hopes his minutes increase when the Warriors go on the road, starting with the Utah Jazz on Wednesday at Vivint Arena.
