The Warriors are 14-13 after their 123-107 win over the Boston Celtics on Saturday at Chase Center and would be in the play-in tournament had the NBA playoffs started after 27 games.
But, despite their record, Draymond Green isn't threatened by the other teams in the Western Conference. As teams have improved out West and the Warriors have had their share of struggles to start their 2022-23 NBA season, Green acknowledged that there's a level of "appropriate fear."
However, in terms of wanting to avoid facing a team due to them simply being better than the defending NBA champions, that's nonexistent in the veteran forward's mind.

"I'm not concerned about anybody in the West," Green told ESPN's "NBA Countdown" on Saturday before the Warriors' game against the Celtics. "I think there are good teams in the West, good teams that you have to fear, have the appropriate fears [as] coach Kerr always talks about.
"Phoenix is one of those teams. I've been telling everybody for two years now. I'm never counting the Lakers out. They got LeBron James; they got Anthony Davis. They got Russell Westbrook. I'm never counting them out, but I don't worry about anybody in the West. I have appropriate fear, and I know what teams are capable of, but I know if we play our A-game, nobody's beating us."
Despite Green's remarks about the West, the 32-year-old does have his eyes on what's occurring in the Eastern Conference, as it's becoming evident that it will be a two-team race for the top spot between the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.
"We know [the Celtics] are playing better basketball than anybody in the league, but I think my other eye is on Milwaukee and understanding that that's a very good team with great players," Green said.

"That's a team who we could have met in the Finals easily last year. They were down Khris Middleton; Khris Middleton is back. Brook Lopez is back playing incredible basketball. So I think my other eye is on Milwaukee for sure."

Green's words will ruffle some feathers around the Western Conference, but when you're the defending NBA champions, it's something the Warriors star can get away with.
