When the Warriors went with Jonathan Kuminga as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, many questions quickly arose.
Can he help fast enough? Why didn't they use the pick to acquire a star? Does Kuminga fit the Warriors' win-now window with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green?
We already know Green made it clear to general manager Bob Myers during the draft that he wanted Golden State to go with Kuminga. On Wednesday night, Myers, Green and Curry all watched the 18-year-old together in person at the Las Vegas Summer League.

And Curry didn't need much time to give his seal of approval.
"We were watching him last night with Steph and Draymond," Myers said Thursday on 95.7 The Game's "Damon, Ratto & Kolsky." "For me, in the position I'm in, it's almost like watching your kids. ... I almost care more what a player might say about him and think about him, because they don't carry that bias.
"But talking to Curry and Draymond, Steph kind of elbowed me and said, 'This kid's pretty good.' And these guys don't compliment easily. They've seen a lot."
It's pretty easy to see why Curry came away impressed. Kuminga led all scorers with 18 points in the Warriors' 90-84 win over the Toronto Raptors. He outplayed Scottie Barnes, the No. 4 overall pick, also adding four rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. The one downside is he did have six turnovers, but those kind of mistakes are expected by someone so young.

Kuminga's physicality sticks out right away. Myers sees it, Curry sees it, Green sees it and so do the fans. It's a part of the game the Warriors lacked last season. If Kuminga does earn minutes as a rookie, that's where he'll shine most.
Though he does need to work on his outside shot and making his free throws, Kuminga went 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-8 from the free-throw line in the win.

The Warriors' front office made the call on Kuminga with their top pick. However, what matters most is how the players feel, especially stars like Curry and Green.
Getting Steph's vote of confidence is a pretty good start for an 18-year-old.
